Autoline After Hours With Jason Vines

Tonight the old crew is back together to do a deep dive into the news of the week, and Jason Vines, that outspoken PR veteran that we love, is back to give his two cents. Toyota Priuses are seemingly going haywire left and right, and we wonder: isn’t this a little too convenient? Plus, with Bryan Nesbitt out of the driver’s seat, Cadillac moves to distance itself from GM. All that and much more including your questions in our Rapid Fire segment. John McElroy’s in studio as usual as well as David Welch of BusinessWeek and Bloomberg and Peter De Lorenzo, the Autoextremist.

GOD Speaks With Young Accolite Ben Spies

Anyone who has clue one about me knows that when it comes to motorcycle racers I admire, above all others is Eddie Lawson.  I only saw Eddie race a couple times on TV, yet I read about him as much as I could.  I did get to meet him several years back at Daytona, adn he was nice enough to answer a couple questions for me with out giving me the famous Lawson stare letting you know, you’re an idiot and I will not answer that question because it’s beyond stupid”.

While this is clearly a marketing video put out by Yamaha to promote the R1 and Ben Spies in MotoGP, any chance to hear Lawson talk about “back in the day” is appointment viewing for me, as it should be for you.

Rossi maybe the GOAT, but Lawson IS GOD.

RoundAboutShow #26 The “More Is Less” Episode

The Geneva Motor Show reminded us that just as “less is more,” the inverse is just as, if not more true: more is definitely less. Aston Martin takes a tiny Toyota iQ and decks it out in full luxury garb and yet: somehow worse. Mansory adheres flashy pieces of golden chrome to a blue Rolls-Royce and creates a monstrosity. And the Sbarro Autobau is an abomination worse than Pontiac could have ever dreamed. Plus researchers come up with an ingenious solution to identifying potholes as asphalt disintegrates in our Blind Spot, and our Stupid Car Trick is a vomit-inducing exercise as a 15-year-old gets a brand new Camaro SS.

Gorillaz Camaro’s And El Camino’s

No this isn’t Ray Wert’s version of a pr0n film, well, OK maybe it is, but that’s not exactly what this is all about.  While Ford is telling the world about it’s V6 305HP Mustang getting 31MPG on the highway, the kids from Gorillaz have a video out for their new album that’s a mixture of Mad Max, Sin City and Gumball Rally.

RoundAboutShow #25 The “Gold Medal” Episode

It’s the moment you wait for every four years: the RoundAbout Winter Games in which news stories compete for the coveted RoAb Gold Medal. A GM worker takes the medal in Road Warriorism as he racks up more daily miles than any of the competition. Meanwhile, a driver of a Silverado takes the award in Near Misses as he narrowly averts an unorthodox vasectomy. In the highly-competitive Stupidity category, a Bugatti owner (well, former owner) once again takes the prize. Plus Zach, Jeffrey and even Joey all have cars (and planes) In the Garage, and we have an Alaska edition of Meet Your Roadmates!
